Chores
Pay attention single girls…and guys.
There was an article recently about mixed marriages and couples. What was in the mix? A messy person and a neat person. Now I’m no expert on neat, but when I choose to be, I can be organized…you should see the files on my computer.
Now the thing that struck me as odd was this twenty something year old woman, who had just moved in with her neat freak boyfriend, was complaining about the expectations growing daily on the chore list on his white board, after their initial chore meeting. I don’t know about the rest of you ladies but meetings with my husband don’t require a white board. He takes good notes though, so I guess I’ll keep him.
A question was posed in one of the forums regarding the article about how often should she clean his cats’ cat-boxes. Ummm…I don’t know, how about never. Don’t get me wrong; divide the chores, split things up to accommodate each others schedule. But in this instance I’m beginning to think, dude thinks he has a housekeeper.
In fairness, we don’t know all about the situation, but no where in the article was there an indication of what he was doing…just an indication that he was making lists of things for her to do, like clean the cat boxes more often and dust his antiques.
Okay, so I’m looking at the white board and I see “dust antiques” instead of “dust,” I’m really figuring that someone has too much stuff.
So ladies where are you in the mix? Are you the clean freak or the messy one? Is the relationship a give and take or are you lectured to in front of a white board once a week?
