To diet or to live frugally…that is the question.

Published by violetteb at 11:18 pm under Does the Shoe Fit? Edit This

Chato visited the other day with some crazy talk about Spam and today I figured out what he was talking about.

I was disturbed today to read at the Preparedness blog the news that Spam was making some kind of a comeback…I know, you have that lump in your throat now too.

It is really disconcerting how low people will sink to survive. I’m on it if it will fuel my car, there must be a way to generate fuel from that block of putrid fat. So let’s work on that because surprisingly per pound it is cheaper than gas, but not cheaper than other things.

So to ensure I don’t suffer a fate worse than Spam, or Spam itself, I’m counting my pennies…at Counting Pennies of course. I found a great link to a USDA document to prepare nutritional meals at minimal cost there…note to self, remember to spend stimulus package money on toys from China and not food. Plus if I start commenting now I might win a few eBooks over there during her June contest.

Act now before you need Spam.

So what is your favorite worst food?

LOL, Spam! It’s not that bad with a thick chunk of velveta…lol Come on who has not had a grilled sandwich like that…

PS If you looking at the comment box and you see it mixed with the SPAM code box… dont worry they will fix that soon and you can still leave a comment here just type you message in the box… then click on the small code bax and add the mixed up words… and vola a comment… Hard to edit and fix typos but a comment none the less…. :)

Spam making a come back! I read about that too. I used to eat that when I was a kid. I think every kid has.

Spam, liver and spinish are the worst foods in the world. I had to eat this ??? when I was a kid and vowed never to do it to my kids or myself.

voila Chato! Velveta? Velveta? Spam and Velveta??? Meal of champions I’m sure… You go Chato!

I know regina, I think my mom likes it. She used to do creative things with it…what can we say, canned goods were novel in the 60’s and 70’s.

I used to like liver when I was a kid…not so much now. I used to hate hot dogs, but can stand all beef (beef whatever I suppose) grilled. Don’t know what I don’t like anymore, maybe cause I’m the mommy and I don’t cook any of the GROSS STUFF!

Wow Cato just gave me the deepest gag reflex I may have ever experienced at the mere mention of velveeta AND spam together. Vienna Sausages have got to be right up there on the yuck list.

That sandwich sounded gross once the ingredients were included. Ooh I love those mini sausages but I also love mustard and oil sardines.

see even our preparedness person can’t swallow that one! LOL and believe it or not ladies, I’m a sardine girl too, mustard is my favorite…you should try the mediterian kind with the olives though YUM. I also love raw clams…to bad about polution though.

make fun of spam all you want, but it still makes a great backpacking food! it definitely is a pleasant option to a lot of the dehydrated meals they offer for backpacking types… there’s only so much mush one can eat before wanting something that actually has a solid consistency to it (even if it is spam)!
